
On second glance you would think this chair has not been fully assembled, but that is not the case. Japan- based designer Akio Hayakawa has created a chair that warps the traditional lines of the table chair.
According to Akio, the new axis, which is warped along the seat plate and back support, obscures the direction of the chair as it sits in relation to its application. So for example the chair would not sit flush when in use with a desk or a table, as the user would have to tilt it medially or laterally to get proper ergonomics.
“Manipulating the axis affects not only the visual but simultaneously frees the body to move and change behaviour with the chair” says Akio.
