On coming up with an idea of buying a lodging of their own, Maxim and Luba focused their searching efforts upon the vicinity of downtown Moscow. At the same time, they wanted to live in a house with a history instead of a traditional concrete jungle. That’s why a tight flat in a house of 1929 perfectly met all their demands. Formerly it was combined with a next-door apartment and had two sanitary units, while the room on the first floor was placed at the disposal of janitors. After a complete overhaul, which took place in the 1980s, the two apartments were separated. By the moment of purchase the flat was in dreadful state and needed total revival. This turned out quite time-consuming: the apartment was bought last summer, but the moving in took place just on the New Year Eve. The interior decoration was done by the hosts, who set their choice on the folk style.
