Lilobul by Vincent Olm

1 lilobul by vincent olm Lilobul by Vincent Olm
Lilobul is a minimalist design created by Belgium-based designer Vincent Olm. The design is a combination of a champagne and canapé holder. The oval dish that houses the champagne glass can be held up in place by the user, or stood up stationary against a flat surface. The conical glass can be easily lifted out and replaced when necessary.
We’ve all been to that dinner party or social event where we’re trying to clutch a drink in one hand, and the food in that same hand because we’re trying to shake someone else’s hand with our other hand. Thanks to Lilobul, this design does most of the multi-tasking for us, and at the same time look sleek and stylish.

Tsuchihashi House is a minimalist home located in Tokyo, Japan, and designed by Kazuyo Sejima. The residence sits atop a small 775 sqf site, and has a transparent lower level to allow an abundance of natural light to enter the space. Each level is separated by use: the living space in the basement, the kitchen and dining room on the ground floor, and the bedrooms on the upper floors.
The dwelling also has a rooftop terrace which provides access to sunlight and fresh air. The stairs are situated parallel to each other and around a square configuration. This allows the space to be maximized while efficiently connecting all of the floors together. As a result, the skylight can be viewed from the basement level, all the way to the top floor.

Coffee Table by Thomas Merlin

1 coffee table by thomas merlin Coffee Table by Thomas Merlin
Tools is a minimalist coffee table designed by France-based designer Thomas Merlin. An expression of dialogue between wood and metal, Tools is a design inspired by geometric shapes, mechanical instruments, and folded elements. The folded elements make up the table in three separate pieces which are connected together by nuts and bolts. The tabletop is then pressed into the wooden legs, finally held together by wooden pins.
Aside from the incredible design, this piece is completely flat-packed. Prior to sourcing different furniture pieces from around the world, I could have cared less about flat-pack shipping or assembly. I had to learn the hard way how impossibly difficult and expensive it is to ship bulky furniture.

Minimalist House in London

1 minimalist house in london Minimalist House in London
Amhurst Road is a minimalist house located in London, England, and designed by Edgley Design. The clients wanted to modernize the space while retaining the fundamentals of the existing buildings. The artist’s studio was knocked down in order to be rebuilt with a better facility. Simply put, the studio would be transformed into a shiny metal box. The choice of industrial materials was to reflect the working nature of the space.
The house is organised as a series of internalised experiences, that create a private retreat from the bustle of its Hackney Central location. There are few windows, and most daylight and sunlight is received from roof lights and the internal courtyard. This creates an introspective house giving complete privacy for the inhabitants, and preventing any overlooking to neighbouring properties.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my daily dose of minimalism, but it doesn’t mean I don’t have an obsession with industrial interiors as well. In fact, my favorite interiors are a mix of industrial and minimal. For Amhurst Road, the side paneling and framed ceiling are enough for me to want to live there.
