Since its adjacent structure blocks all of the sunlight coming from the south side, this structure is built to maximize its limited solar path. Featuring curves and edgeless surfaces it creates a receptacle for natural illumination for the spaces within. Its cylindrical shape and the slate-colored finish express an industrial character; square shaped windows of many sizes randomly mark the surface, concealing the layout and proportions of the house within. The two stories each have different ceiling heights, it elevates the living space to the upper level, making sure there’s maximum daylight coming through the semicircular roof terrace, and this roof terrace is the primary vessel for daylight. The design of this house is heavily tied to its solar position, the interior atmosphere shifts throughout the day as well as when the seasons change.
