Chevron House by Andy Martin Architects

Description by Andy Martin Architects:
Responding sensitively to the existing Edwardian architecture, Chevron House is a new 5 bedroom family house in a creative suburb of West London.
Inspired by the architecture of the existing elegantly proportioned spaces, the design sets out to exaggerate, by scaling the space by removing walls, and attaching new space to create a large Edwardian warehouse on each of the three levels. The ground floor, the public level is essentially one space which is divided only by the use of colour and material. On the second and third levels, the private floors, bedrooms merge into bathrooms and visa versa. The rear of the property has new extensions off both the living and kitchen reaching into the garden to absorb the light from the south. The clients brief to use colour extensively was applied in such that the walls and ceilings are left light in colour (off white) and that only elements or interventions (joinery etc) would be strongly coloured giving the house a lighter atmosphere with greater sense of perspective.
The client is a collector of contemporary British art and it was also an important part of the brief for AMA to how one may integrate it within the house.

H House by Budapesti Muhely

Architecture does not need to be complicated in order to be beautiful. Sometimes the most straightforward schemes tease out the trickiest characteristics of space, and H House designed by Budapesti Muhely is a study that demonstrates the power of simplicity. The firm transformed a peasant longhouse right outside of Budapest, Hungary by dividing the space into modular units, half of which are incorporated in circulation space and half of which are dedicated to program. The floor plan presents two rows of rooms separated by a hallway, but this austere organization reads much differently from the interior. Despite the room divisions, there is warmth to the space that is garnered by the honey wood floors and the generous views granted to each individual room. Columns and ceiling beams carry traces of the imposed grid, but the detail in the black-framed windows and doors, and the simple furniture creates the impression of a freer space within the house. The same type of column grid is extended to the outside porch, which is sheltered by the roof cladding and hollow gable supports overhead.

Futuristic BMW Central Building by Zaha Hadid

Futuristic BMW Central Building by Zaha Hadid
Zaha Hadid may be one of Architecture’s more famed practitioners, and it’s certainly a testament to her innovative works. One of her great buildings is a match made in heaven– between herself and German native BMW. BMW’s Central Building in Germany was built by Zaha from 2001 to 2005, and she claims it as “a more dynamic and more engaging” space.Moving away from the traditional flow of a blue and white collar spatial division, BMW’s Central Building has a futuristic vibe to it. With concrete and white as the main colors seen, blue lights give the “Tomorrowland” feel to the corporate office space. There are pops of color as far as workstations are concerned, but the majority of the architecture and detailing is centered around movement in the lines and direction of materials.

Spanish Pavilio In Netherlands

 Spanish Pavilio In Netherlands
Color’s involvement in architecture is on the upward swing, and it’s an exciting time in design. Architects Pulgon Diseno put together this Spanish Pavilion in Venlo Netherlands and it is an exquisite ode to their culture.
An organic blend of shapes, materials and colors– this pavilion is not only outfitted on the outside, but the interior is fantastic as well. there are backlit panels in neon colors complete with flat screens, informational areas and sustainable materials.
The best part? The lighting that goes on inside flows out through the colorfully painted slats on the exterior; creating an amazing sensation of light in the darker hours.
