Olga has lived in an apartment of the “Blue Bird” housing estate for 10 years already. A bold new experiment in live/work design has been completed in central Tokyo, the House T by Hiroyuki Shinozaki. House T is a home and studio built into a 3-story space with an open, cubic floor plan and a dream-like design. It is puzzling at first glance, looking more like an abstract work by MC Esher than a modern living space. Kitchen is a place where each family spends a lot of time. Thus it is very important that this room has not only a functional meaning of a place where food is cooked but also warm and harmonic atmosphere inside. And one of the ways to turn your kitchen into a soulful and cozy place is to use wall murals.
Age of digital photography and printing extended tremendously not only the world but also borders of design solutions. Designers found absolutely fantastic applications for wallpaper murals and posters. Now absolutely any picture may become the facade of a cupboard or photo-tiling. Due to wear-resistant coating of tiles and panels the picture will never rub away. The effect is really awesome.
Any object or phenomenon that amazed you now can embellish your home – sea shore, palms in front of sunset, a chamomile field, coffee beans and elegant flowers, calligraphic inscription and exquisite ornaments – all of these can be pictured in its natural size or zoomed in hundred times. Anything that will be printed on the wall will settle in your kitchen.
There are several things one should know when putting wall murals in the kitchen.

Artem, a lawyer

Number of rooms: 2
Metric area: 46 m²
Ceiling height: 2.5 m

Having become a happy owner of an apartment on the 33rd floor of a newly-built housing estate 4 years ago, Artem was able to move in after a year of redecoration works. At the moment of purchase it was an empty space with an only load-bearing pillar between a bedroom and a kitchen. On the advice of his friends, the host turned to professional architects from the “Archtika” company for the development of layout and interior design projects. Artem’s wishes were few – modern-style décor, an isolated bedroom and a large shower cabin. The developed plan was immediately approved by the host, who made just a few slight changes in the process.
