The whimsical look of InVaso, created by Italian designer Stefano Claudio Bison, plays off the notion that vases contain not just the planted but also the life-giving water necessary for survival. The general form of InVaso mimics that of ordinary clay pots, but the surprise is in the material. The container is entirely composed of porous sponge, its bright hues of lime, yellow, and ochre complementing what greenery it holds. More sculptural designs feature additional rings of colorful sponge, rendering the planter a fun, psychedelic miniature of the Great Mosque of Samarra.
