The Islands is a furniture collection of objects made of steel pipes, lacquered plywood and glass with an Art Deco appeal. Designer Johannes Gille of Kranen Gille was inspired by the steel sea forts that were used to defend the British coast in WWII, he cleverly created these pieces by using heavily industrious materials and the structural rules that come with them, combined with a sense of nature, he described his brilliant work as “Islands grown from steel”.
