David Fanchon’s elegant design maximizes passive solar energy while enabling a 180 degree view from the open-plan interior.
This house is wide open to the view. As the sun is higher in summer, this exterior trellis outside bounces the suns rays back for shade.
But in winter, its rays come through the gigantic wraparound windows and warm deep inside the unique structure. The Pearl’s shape is designed to work with the sun’s daily and year round course to make the interior cool in summer and warm in winter.
On the roof, solar panels are on the tops of the trellis. The trellis is adjustable, like gigantic blinds.
The aerodynamic dome shape delivers protection from high winds and the wild coastal weather that can come with views like this.
The arc shape also provides resistance to earthquakes. The Pearl is both gorgeous and much more safe than the average home.
But inside, it should have some arc shaped cabinetry to echo the curved horizon view, don’t you think?
